Blending the latest fashion colours with soft neutral tones gives Riviera’s stylish new range of soft furnishings a timeless elegance.
R Interiors designer Vivienne Sales has more than 30 years experience in the textile industry. Vivienne was given her first sewing machine when she was eight and her love of fashion, fabric and design grew from there. She started a three year apprenticeship when she was 16 but it didn’t take her long to establish two successful clothing labels in New Zealand, before moving to Australia where she began her career in interior design.
Vivienne has been designing Riviera’s exclusive line of R Interiors for the past 13 years and said she enjoyed the challenge of creating luxurious soft furnishings for Riviera owners.
Vivienne said they took a fresh approach to designing this new range of soft furnishings to create a bright and uplifting style.
“I think we have achieved that with this new range. I have used new season fashion colours, amethyst, opal, pearl and granite which look absolutely beautiful with Riviera’s high gloss timbers,” Vivienne said.
“We have chosen a timeless design using a combination of checks, stripes and plain fabrics with bold colours and piping or ribbon to add extra detail.
“Extensive use of fine piping brings all the colour tones together as well – it’s a very custom range.
“Having a dress making background, I am used to intricate detail and I think this gives a very distinctive look to our new collections.”
Vivienne said she also enjoyed the challenge of finding fabrics suitable for boating applications while keeping her designs luxurious and comfortable.
“We put a brolly protection on everything, it’s a bit like scotchguarding your bed linen. It just gives it that extra protection in a marine environment,” she said.
“We have also sourced a new range of blinds with sunscreen which is great for boats because people can just wipe them over to remove dust or salt. This also protects fabric blinds from mildewing.”
Vivienne also designs a range of bed packs for the pull out bunks and lounges that convert to beds for extra guests.
“We make a bed sack which is like a quilted sleeping bag with a blanket and pillow which are stored in a nice monogrammed bag,” she said.
R Interiors also offer a custom service for Riviera owners who may wish to choose their own fabrics and have a range of soft furnishings designed specifically for their boat.
