A multi-million dollar collection of boats is set to go to auction on the Gold Coast next Sunday, the first of a series of sales campaigns by newly established marine auction and brokering entity, Ray White Marine.

The auction, which is being held at Marina Oceanus at Marina Mirage on July 18, will showcase 10 vessels of various price points and styles from late model Australian-built boats through to luxury European cruisers, ranging in size from 25 to 70-feet.

Ray White Marine, a joint venture by leading marine industry specialists Marina Oceanus and Queensland’s largest real estate firm, the Ray White Surfers Paradise Group, will auction and broker boats and luxury motor yachts from across the nation, bringing millions of dollars worth of vessels to the shores of the Gold Coast.

Ray White Marine joint director Andrew Bell said the auction campaigns form part of their plans to place the Gold Coast’s ‘rejuvenated’ multi-million dollar marine industry in the spotlight as one of Australia’s key marine destinations.

“Ray White’s specialist auction and marketing concepts and resources have adapted superbly to the marine industry,” Mr Bell said.

“It’s certainly a major step in the right direction for the industry, as promotional resources to this extent have never been available in the marine sector until now.

“By conducting regular auctions, Ray White Marine is providing a conduit for buyers and sellers as well as building the Gold Coast’s reputation as Australia’s capital for luxury boat brokerage.”

Ray White Marine’s sales and marketing manager Mark Ali, a leading identity in the Queensland marine sector, says the first auction campaign has attracted significant interest from local and interstate buyers and sellers.

“We’ve had boats from as far a field as Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and The Whitsunday’s for this first auction on the Gold Coast,” said Mr Ali.

“This multi-million dollar collection of boats has been designed to meet a broad segment of the lifestyle investor market, so the interest to date has been encouragingly widespread.

“The sellers are serious and motivated, and they see this platform as the key to getting elevated exposure and the best outcome. The consensus from these sellers is that they want their boats sold – they aren’t just testing the market.

“We’ve already had strong interest for the first auction and believe it will set a solid foundation on which to continue building Ray White Marine and the Gold Coast boating industry as a whole.”

Mr Ali said whilst the luxury-end of the marine industry had softened during the GFC, the sector had regained a lot of momentum, particularly in the last six months.

“The industry has been kick-started and rejuvenated in the wake of the downturn; there are some fantastic opportunities arising which we will facilitate with innovative new structures and processes.”

Mr Ali said the Gold Coast has the ideal geographical location and adequate infrastructure to support the growth in the marine sector.

“The waterways here are among the best in Australia; from the Broadwater to Sanctuary Cove and HopeIsland and beyond. The fundamentals for growth are already in place.”

The auction is being held on Sunday July 18, at the northern end of Marina Mirage, neighbouring the Palazzo Versace, at 11am
