Special ‘fishing’ Protectors launched

Rayglass Boats Ltd have launched two new Protectors and both specially designed for fishing.

The first, for a New Zealand client, is an all-black 12.5m Cabin XL Protector.

Even though the striking vessel features a luxurious interior, its primary purpose is fast cruising to fishing grounds and the outer islands of the Hauraki Gulf.

Currently powered by three supercharged 300hp Mercury Verado outboards, the black Protector has a top speed of just under 50 knots. However, the triple 300hp outboards are scheduled to be replaced, early in the New Year, with three 350hp Verados.

The vessel also features a new high tech Flir infra-red camera system. This sophisticated system has been installed to enable the boat’s skipper to locate variations in water temperature, a real advantage when chasing large game fish.

The second new Protector is for a Perth-based client and is the first of Rayglass’s new 12.5 metre Cabin SL Protectors. These feature a 900mm longer cabin with twin 2m bunks, integral refrigeration system and a separate head area complete with lockable door. A more conventional white colour with grey trim, the new Protector Cabin SL is powered by twin Mercury 300hp outboards and has a top speed approaching 44 knots.
