122’ MYTHOS: Riva HEADS FOR THE FUTURE

The new flagship of the iconic brand to be launched in February and delivered in April

Forlì, November 22 2013 – The 122’ Mythos is the first yacht by Riva completely built in light aluminum alloy, as well as the largest yacht in the world ever produced by the historical Italian brand.

Riva’s new flagship, whose construction is currently underway at CRN shipyards in Ancona, is an over-35- ton aluminum jewel that catches the eye with its 122 feet in length (37 meters) and its close to 25 feet beam (7,60 meters). The Riva Mythos will include an estimated 15,000 man hours for its painting, 10,000 man hours for carpentry work and 8,000 for electrical systems. These few but very meaningful figures bear witness to how the Riva brand, which became globally known due to its legendary wooden motor yachts, the symbols of the Dolce Vita and the icons of a truly unforgettable time is now marking a new milestone in its history.

From mahogany to fiberglass, from fiberglass to aluminum, the Riva brand keeps evolving, in terms of both yacht sizes and applied technology, and can now boast one of the widest and diversified ranges at a worldwide level, featuring as many as 12 different models between 27 and 122 feet, including open, coupe, and flybridge yachts.

WIP – WORK IN PROGRESS

The new Riva flagship is currently on schedule for its delivery date.

The hull and the superstructure were completed over the last few months, and carpentry works are currently being finalized.

As for the exteriors, the disc grinding and primer application, the primer is a protective material separating the sheet metal from the putty layer, have already been completed and the puttying process is currently ongoing. The top coat application – which is always the last stage in the process – will be completed by the end of February, when the hull takes on its final appearance.

To highlight the hull lines Officina Italiana Design (OID)proposed two different shades of grey. A lighter one (“Regal Silver”, a brand-new shade, specifically conceived for this model) and a darker one (“Charcoal”, one of the most largely appreciated colors within the shipyard’s available color range).

All the main technical systems are already onboard: the engines, the gensets, the converters, the main electrical panel and the air conditioning compressor assembly have been installed, and all hydraulic and electrical connections are about to be made.

On the lower deck, workers have completed space compartments and installed the ceilings in Canaletto walnut (the wood chosen by the Owner for the entire yacht) as well as part of the furniture.

RIVA & CRN

The 122’ Mythos is also the symbol of the long-standing partnership between two historical and iconic Ferretti Group brands: Riva, which in 2012 celebrated its 170th anniversary, and CRN – the Group’s shipyard specialized in the construction and sale of fully-custom and semi-custom mega-yachts in steel, aluminum and fiberglass between 131 and 295 feet – which, in turn, will celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

Through the 122’ Mythos Riva and CRN, two leading players of the international boating industry, are breathing new life into their more-than-40-year partnership as back in 1970 Carlo Riva decided to terminate his agreement with the Dutch shipyards and to establish a partnership with CRN. A decision that proved to be successful and that between 1970 and 1978 led to the creation of six 77 ft. motor yachts in the Marco Polo series and two Vespucci models (a 90 footer and a 100 footer) designed by the Carlo Riva Yacht Division.

CONCEPT & DESIGN

The Riva 122’ Mythos, which draws inspiration from the 86’ Domino’s main stylistic features, is the outcome of the cooperation between yacht Designer Mauro Micheli – the founder, together with Sergio Beretta, of Officina Italiana Design (the design firms that designs Riva’s entire range), Ferrettigroup Engineering (the Company’s team of engineers and architects, including some of the best in the naval design sector worldwide) and AYTD – Advanced Yacht Technology & Design center (the Group’s research center).

This yacht is a “100 percent Riva” model, as proven by its clean lines, a painstaking care for details, the use of traditional and yet “evergreen” materials – like steel, wood and leather – which give every Riva yacht a unique, timeless flair. The 122’ Mythos stands out for its flawless balance both indoor and outdoor.

“Talking about a boat is always more difficult than designing it. The concept and lines of the 122’ were conceived in about 10 minutes; what really makes the difference and makes this model truly unique is the time devoted to defining its details. The 122’ Mythos stems from pure instinct – this is why I am convinced it will be successful for a long time, just like the Aquariva, the Rivarama and the Rivale, which are still being produced after so many years” – this was one of Mauro Micheli’s first statements about the new flagship. ”I saw it a few days ago in Ancona and I am increasingly sure of this. This is Riva’s flagship and I think it is worthy to be part of this great brand ”.

TECHNOLOGY & PERFORMANCES

The aluminum planning hull can reach a maximum speed of 27.5 knots and a cruising speed of 25 knots thanks to two MTU 12 V 4000 M 93L, 3510 mhp engines (preliminary data).

This is a high-tech planning yacht ensures great comfort and top performances in its class.

The shaft drive propulsion system propellers have been designed to ensure the utmost efficiency and outstanding performances in terms of both consumption and range. Maximum comfort is also guaranteed by the stabilizing system.

LAYOUT & DECOR

Hull #1 will be in the optional 3-cabin version and its true luxury lies in its spaciousness and privacy. The standard version proposed by the shipyard has 4 cabins, and an additional optional layout with 5 cabins is also available.

Main Deck

The main materials used on this yacht include Canaletto walnut, in a light, softer shade, leather and chromium-plated steel, in line with Riva’s traditional style. Every detail is characterized by essential, clean lines, which result in a timeless, extremely natural style.

The salon and the dining area have been conceived as an open space; the living area features 3 white leather sofas and 2 armchairs in a contrasting shade; the 55″ TV can be completely concealed in the ceiling. The dining area is furnished with a large steel and glass table with 10 dark brown leather chairs that are in contrast with the steel and white lacquered details.

The large uninterrupted glazing, which runs along the entire main deck, offers a breathtaking panoramic view and lets in plenty of light into the day area, connected to the raised pilot station.

Continuing towards the bow, there are two doors separated by a wide white lacquered panel: the right door leads to the lower deck, while the left one opens into a small pantry located just before the spacious, comfortable full-beam galley, entirely furnished with white lacquered furniture and reflecting the Owner’s love for cooking and for practical solutions. Thanks to the dinette, featuring a table seating 5/6 people, and its great spaciousness this area is very pleasant and can be enjoyed throughout the day. Walking further and down towards the crew quarters, the cold room can be reached, with more household appliances and an additional technical area.

Lower Deck

On this first hull, the very practical layout is further enhanced by the Owner’s decision to have a large suite located amidships and only two VIP cabins.

All cabins are located in the central part of the yacht, to ensure maximum comfort also when cruising, while the crew quarters – including the Captain’s cabin and two twin crew cabins, can be found forward.

The full-beam master stateroom is furnished with square, natural Canaletto wood furniture with dark brown (“Africa”) leather and chromium-plated steel details. Opposite the bed, located in the center of the cabin, a low rectangular unit hosts the 46” TV with concealing mechanism and several storage compartments.

Under the side glazing are a small living area to starboard and an office area to port.

The wardrobes, which run along the walls in front of the bed on both sides of the cabin, are very capacious and functionally organized.

The master bathroom comes in an optional configuration and is divided into 4 different areas: from left to right are the bathroom and toilet areas, the two washbasins in “Thassos” white marble (the same material used for the floors) – located in the central part of the room -, the shower box and the sauna.

The VIP cabins, which mirror each other, one to starboard and one to port, have been furnished to match the style of the master stateroom, and are both fitted with a spacious head and shower box.

The large side glazing ensures great brightness along the entire lower deck.

The outdoor areas are striking for their extraordinary elegance, spaciousness, and functional layout, and allow Owners and guests to enjoy cruising in the utmost comfort.

The cockpit includes2 large L-shaped sunpads and a teak and steel dining table with seating for up to 10 people – access can be gained to the aft swimming platform, which separates the two garage doors. The garage can fit a tender exceeding 16 ft. in length on the left and a jet-ski on the right-hand side. A special electrical-hydraulic platform has also been installed, allowing for Owners and guests to safely dive into the sea from the aft platform and to easily launch the water toys.

Sundeck

The upper deck can be accessed from the cockpit using an external staircase and has been designed to offer the Owner and his guests unmatched comfort. Hull #1 features a large Jacuzzi, a comfortable sunpad and a bar unit with cooking top. Walking further towards the bow, another C-shaped sofa and the second pilot station can be found.

LAUNCH & DELIVERY

After the launch, scheduled for February 2014, final decoration and fitting-out operations will be performed, followed by the trials. Delivery is currently expected at the end of April.

Next spring and summer the Riva 122’ Mythos #1 will cruise in the Mediterranean Sea, where its splendor will undoubtedly greatly admired, and will then head off to Brazil, where its Owner is based.
