Sandringham, Victoria: For the first time in the history of the Sandringham Yacht Club’s Recreational Boating and Fishing Competition, Victorian Riviera owners have been invited to participate in the annual tournament.
Sponsored by R Marine Jacksons, the fishing tournament will be held on Sunday, October 27 and is open to anglers of all ages with some great prizes up for grabs for the biggest snapper, mystery weight snapper, biggest snapper caught off the back of a yacht, plus many more great prizes.
Usually only open to Sandringham Yacht Club members, organisers of this year’s tournament have extended an invitation to Riviera owners. The competition began some 26 years ago, but it wasn’t until 2007 that it was given a rebirth to a new family friendly event attracting more than 45 boats and about 120 people.
R Marine Jacksons dealer principal Stuart Jackson said the event was a great opportunity for Riviera owners to enjoy a social event together.
“The fishing competition is a good excuse to throw a rod out, have some fun and a good catch up afterwards,” he said.
“We look forward to having many of our owners entering this competition from the serious angler through to the social angler. It is all about catching up with friends and family fun. So far we have a 565 SUV and M370 entered and I am sure we will see many more Riviera entries as the competition draws nearer.
“After the competition, there will be a live cooking demonstration by the Yacht Club’s Executive Chef, Kol Gemmell, who will cook up a storm with the freshly caught snapper and this is followed by prize giving and then lunch at the Yacht Club.”
