Rosehill Gardens Set To Welcome Its Eighth Trailerboat Show

It may boast more fame as the home of the Golden Slipper, one of the world’s richest races for two-year-old thoroughbreds, but the Rosehill Gardens Event Centre is equally at home playing host to the boating industry.

Over the weekend of March 5-6 more than 50 of the state’s leading marine dealerships will gather to present the 8^th annual Rosehill Trailer Boat Show, an initiative of the boating industry’s peak body, the Boating Industry Association (BIA) of NSW.

During its tenure at Rosehill and in its previous guise as The Great Silverwater Boat Show, this is an exhibition which boating enthusiasts have embraced wholeheartedly.

It has become widely recognised as a “trailer boaties paradise”, with dealers in boats, engines, marine electronics, boat trailers, canoes and kayaks, fishing tackle and general boating accessories all keen to do business and clear stock in readiness for the 2011/2012 summer season.

“The original thought behind the show was that simple fact, to give dealers the opportunity to clear their decks in readiness for the next season’s new models,” explained Domenic Genua, marketing and event manager for the BIA.

“We’ve deliberately produced the show as a totally informal, rather laid back affair and I think visitors have come to appreciate that,” he added.

Two-years ago the BIA, always keen to promote recreational boating anyway it can, made admission to the event free and this, allied with ample free parking, has been seen at the gate with more than 11,000 boaters flocking to the venue last year.

The show not only attracts Sydney’s top marine dealers, but others from outside the Sydney metropolitan area.

Research undertaken by the BIA has also revealed that people from those areas are also regular visitors to the show.

In addition to inspecting the latest boats and nautical equipment, other exhibitors such as NSW Maritime and Club Marine Insurance; here, show visitors can take advantage and re-new boating licences, boat registration, collect valuable printed matter on various recreational boating matters and talk insurance with the experts.

Two segments of the show have proven winners for keen anglers; fishing tackle distributors are among those on hand offering hard-to-beat deals on first rate equipment while Brett Thompson will also be there with his giant Supertank and the performing fish.

Marine Rescue will also be on hand, using the show as a fund raising opportunity provided with the compliments of the BIA.

“The Rosehill Trailerboat Show is a relaxing day out for the family,” Mr Genua said.

“No parking problems, free admission, plenty of room to enjoy lunch under the sun and there are numerous bars, coffee stalls and restaurants to keep visitors’ hunger at bay.

“For those not familiar with Rosehill, no venue is more easily accessed, with ring roads right around the metropolitan area allowing an easy route to James Ruse Drive and the Rosehill facility.

“We’ll be open 9am to 5pm both days, so why not come along and enjoy this for what it is, a relaxing and educational day out among like-minded boating enthusiasts,” he added.
