The impressive Sabre 40 Sedan will make its much-anticipated Australian debut at next month’s Sydney International Boat Show.
To mark the occasion – and in addition to Sabre’s ‘Launch Pad’ campaign, where customers receive an iPad 2 loaded with information pertaining to the boat – those who order a Sabre 40 will receive a full suite of Garmin electronics including two GPSMAP 5215 large-screen chartplotters, a GMR 24HD radar and VHF marine radio. Valued at over $15,000, the electronics package is being thrown in for free!
Sabre Yachts’ USA-based vice president marketing and sales Bentley Collins will also attend the Sydney International Boat Show, where the new Sabre 40 is expected to generate much interest among discerning individuals looking for a unique, functional and head-turning vessel.
Built in the Maine tradition, this offshore-capable, downeast-style motor yacht boasts modern high-performance and a luxurious, handcrafted interior.
Sabre’s classic style is blended with the company’s cutting-edge build methods, such as infusion hull construction and the application of ultra-modern technology like Zeus azipod drives and Skyhook positioning system.
Zeus pod-drive propulsion uses less horsepower than traditional shaft propulsion and is significantly quieter, directing engine exhaust out through the pods under water. Coupled with the Skyhook system, this is the most advanced propulsion and positioning system available for leisure craft and the Sabre 40 was designed to include this technology from the outset. (Skyhook links GPS data to the Zeus drives for automated position holding.)
Internally, the Sabre 40 is handcrafted with warm cherrywood bulkheads, teak floorboards and elegant upholstery. Accommodation comprises a large owners stateroom, double guest cabin and a large washroom with separate shower cubicle.
The fully-equipped, electric galley is positioned between the cabins and saloon deck – part of the social area but below the line of vision when underway. Space saved through the use of Zeus drives allows for long-distance cruising additions such as a washing machine, watermaker or additional storage. A 9kW generator is fitted as standard.
The saloon deck is the main social area with seating around a drop-down table, built-in entertainment systems and all-round views through large upright windows. The solid, hand-crafted cherrywood interior is continued through here along with the solid teak flooring and ultra-leather upholstery. This area opens out to a large aft cockpit with seating and room for activities and is well ventilated with opening windows and overhead hatches.
The Sabre 40 has impressive offshore capabilities through a strong hull with a deep vee and flared bow. Capable of speeds in excess of 30kt, the vessel delivers both elegance and power in equal measure whether on a coastal passage or cruising inland waterways.
To check-out the Sabre range drop by Emarine Australia’s on-water display at the Sydney International Boat Show to view the new Sabre 40, as well as the Back Cove 37 and Back Cove 30.
