Sailfish Owners Again Unite At Port Stephens Fishing Comp

Team Sailfish once again descended on Port Stephens for the annual Port Stephens Trailer Boat Fishing Competition.  Competing under the banner of Team Sailfish, the seven Sailfish vessels and associated anglers gathered to fish the sparkling offshore waters of the NSW north coast, albeit it under grey skies.

Team Sailfish was organised and sponsored by leading catamaran retailers Webbe Marine, the exclusive Sailfish agent for the eastern seaboard of Australia. Joining over 1000 other fishing competitors and boats, Team Sailfish delivered the goods at Port Stephen’s largest offshore fishing competition with boats ranging in size from the Sailfish 2200 through to the Sailfish 2800.

“Even though the weather was ordinary at best and the seas were quite big, all the Team Sailfish participants enjoyed a great weekend of fishing and socialising,” Ashley Faraj of Webbe Marine said.

“Our boat numbers were down a little on last year, probably due to the event being the weekend prior to Easter.”

And once again, Team Sailfish figured prominently in the competition.  The anglers aboard one of the Team Sailfish boats caught several Marlin, all of them being tagged and released.   And one of the younger anglers won the junior bream division.

Webbe Marine made sure that all Team Sailfish participants and boat owners enjoyed their angling weekend with ‘welcome back’ drinks on the marina each afternoon and an exclusive team dinner on the Saturday night. Special guest at the Team Sailfish dinner was Mark Bradley, CEO of Club Marine, who attended with his family and several representatives of the Club Marine organisation.

“We are well aware that Sailfish owners are passionate about their boats and we wanted to create a team that shared a common interest in first class boats and first class fishing,” said Ashley Faraj.

“The Sailfish owners showed great camaraderie over the weekend which proved to be a successful one for Team Sailfish as well. As expected, the boats performed flawlessly and the feedback we received on the competition weekend means we will be scheduling more Team Sailfish events in the future.”
