The latest offering from Sailfish Catamarans, offers boaters an enormous cockpit matched with stability and unheralded on-water performance. This is a boat that dedicated bluewater anglers will relate to.

With a length overall of 7.30m and beam of 2.45m this is a decent sized cat.  Customers are offered a choice of dual Honda 90 hp outboards or bigger Honda 115 hp engines.   Dual 175 litre fuel tanks ensure this cat has the legs to head a long way offshore and troll all day long.

According to Gavan Daly at Webbe Marine, the Canyon Master has been developed in direct response to customer feedback.

“We believed that the cat fishing market was after a hull with a smaller cabin and larger cockpit,” Gavan Daly said.

“What we discovered when we made the adjustment was that they actually still wanted a cabin that could provide enough space for an afternoon nap.   The Canyon Master has a cabin big enough to sleep 2 and a cockpit that is actually 2.2m square.”

“This is a boat which delivers both on the cabin area and the cockpit space, yet is contained within the 7.3m length and modest power on the transom.   All round this rig is a winner.”

Sailfish has developed a new hull shape for the Canyon Master, the Hydroflow Gen 2 hull.  The entry of the sponsons have been enhanced to deliver easier planing without compromising a soft entry when operating in rough water.

Moving aft, the sponsons have been widened to enable the hull to float higher in the water.  As a consequence, hull drag is reduced with the upside being a 3 knot increased performance with better fuel economy.  Hull stability remains as solid as ever.

The sponsons are manufactured from durable 5mm aluminium plate with 25 mm keels.  Foam filled sponsons are not only a great safety feature, but ensure that hull noise is kept to a minimum.  This hull will power through virtually any conditions with safety and confidence.

Stepping on board the Sailfish Canyon Master, the initial feeling is one of space.  This cockpit is one of the biggest in its class of 7m boats.  The cockpit floor is covered in an exclusive non-skid material.

The helm position provides excellent all round vision, with the well appointed dash accommodating all the essential engine monitoring gauges plus the electronics which are an essential aspect of blue water fishing.  Elsewhere there is a generous kill tank plus ample storage.

The Sailfish Canyon Master is available in either a hardtop or soft-top configuration.  Hardtop boats are experiencing a big surge in popularity as it extends the fishing season for anglers who want to fish in tougher weather conditions.

Other features of this Sailfish include a windscreen wiper, electric anchor winch, Garmin colour touchscreen combo, kill tank, live bait tank, deckwash, lockable forward cabin, non skid flooring, LED lighting, Fusion stereo, VHF radio and an optional toilet.

Performance is exceptional.  With a pair of Honda 90 four stroke outboards a top speed of 35 knots (64 km/h) at 5800 rpm.  At cruise the readout is 21 knots (39 km/h) at 4000 rom.

The option of the bigger Honda 115hp four stroke outboards gives a top speed of 37 knots (68 km/h) at 6000 rpm and a cruise speed of 22.7 knots (42 km/h) at 4000 rpm.

Dual engines offer peace of mind to offshore fishermen, along with superior performance.  The Sailfish brand is renowned for building outstanding quality catamarans that are stable, with huge cockpit space and exceptional performance in rough water.
