With electric vessels increasingly outperforming petrol-powered boats. Carbon Yachts is at the forefront of transforming the boating industry toward cleaner, high-performance solutions.

Co-founder Chris Hrones noted, “Electric vessels are no longer just an environmentally friendly option—they’re starting to outperform petrol-powered boats in many key areas. This isn’t just a trend; electric propulsion is a fundamental shift in the future of boating.”

The electric boats in Carbon Yachts’ portfolio, like the Candela C-8, showcase the benefits of electric propulsion. Utilizing electric hydrofoiling technology, the C-8 offers a smooth, quiet ride, minimizing the noise and discomfort associated with traditional powerboats. The battery servicing is only needed every 3,000 hours, maintenance is significantly reduced compared to petrol engines.

Another highlight is the ASTenders 340 Revolve, which features a Mitek electric outboard that swivels on its axis. Simplifying storage and eliminating the safety risks of petrol refueling. The Saffier SE 24 Lite, equipped with a solar-powered electric drive, can theoretically remain moored indefinitely without refueling while still allowing for motorized navigation as needed.

The MERC initiative, launched in 2024 by Angus and Christine McDonald, has garnered support from major players in the boating industry, including Sealink Tourism and NRMA Ferries. This collective effort emphasizes the necessity of meaningful change across both leisure and commercial maritime sectors.

Carbon Yachts has played a crucial role in raising awareness of electric boating, recently achieving extensive media coverage for the Candela C-8’s arrival in Australia, reaching over 9 million people. This PR campaign highlighted the potential of electric vessels and Carbon Yachts’ leadership in this industry shift.
