North South Yachting are excited to announce the first Salona 38 has been sold into Australia. Following a successful Sydney Boat Show a Salona 38 has been sold to a Sydney customer, making it one of the first 38’s off the production line and due to arrive in December.
The new Salona 38, was launched on July 30th on a beautiful summer day in Split, Croatia, together with the star owner of Nexus, Dean Barker Emirates Team NZ America’s Cup skipper. Dean Baker test sailed the Salona 38 and promoted the new relationship between Salona yachts and Nexus that will supply the new electronic package for Salona’s “ready to sail” package.
“On the way to Portugal to AC45 World Series I stopped in Split, Croatia for the launch of the new Salona 38 which is a new model for the Salona boats range. Salona produce a performance cruiser range with some beautifully built yachts. The reason for my visit was to promote a new relationship between Nexus and Salona. Salona have very similar values to Nexus and are a great fit for our company. While in Split I went for a test sail on the prototype 38. The 38 was very nice to steer, very well balanced, and certainly a lot more comfortable than what I have experienced over the last 10 months!” – said Dean Barker after sailing.
“We are delighted with the fact that there is so much interest for Salona 38. Only a week after publishing the information about the boat, 8 Salona 38 models were sold and 5 Salona 38 models were delivered to the customers in August. Salona 38 and big Salona 60 are the first boats of new Salona range that will emphasize our aim to build the best performance cruisers on the market.” – said Krešimir Se?ak, CEO of Salona Group.
Salona 38 is the successor of the best-selling and European and American yacht of the year, Salona 37, which recently won the ORCi European Championships in Norway this month. The Salona 38 modern and clean deck lines are continuation of the new distinctive Salona style that has been introduced in the Salona 60, designed by Jason Ker.
Salona yachts have been cooperating with Jason Ker, America’s Cup designer, who has designed and optimized special Salona 38 performance keel with lower center of gravity and has significantly improved ballast to weigh ratio and hydrodynamics of the keel with the use of the latest computational fluid dynamics (CFD) program.
The Salona 38 keel and sail plan have been developed for maximal performance and comfort in combination with ease of handling. The final result is a stiff, strong and light construction, creating the foundation of a seaworthy yacht, which withstands high loads from rig, wind and sea conditions, and enhances maximal sailing performance and comfort.
With a special introductory price for the first customers North South Yachting, the Australian Salona Dealer, expect the Salona 38 will become very popular with sailors who want the balance comfort and performance at an affordable price.
