Salthouse Marine has launched their latest creation, a Salthouse 68 for a Perth client. The vessel named ‘SummerSalt’ looks stunning with its ‘Midnight Blue’ hull and white superstructure.

As with each Salthouse vessel the Owners of this Salthouse 68 have customized their vessel to suit their cruising requirements and the anticipated long hauls up the rugged Western Australian coastline to the Abrolhos Islands and the like.

The fine entry bow and warped planning hull design allows for true offshore blue water cruising, coupled with the MTU 8V 2000 series engines and 8,200l of fuel, gives a huge cruising range of over 3000Nm. With ample amounts of eutectic refrigeration (4 separate units to be precise) and the full sized double door house hold refrigerator/freezer, constant trips to shore are not needed for perishable supplies.

Other noticeable customizations are the shortened pulpit with the twin anchor arrangement on the bow and the hydraulic ‘sports transom’.

A modern carbon fiber inlaid dash is bejeweled by an array of highly specified electronic equipment which includes three Raymarine G series 15” screens, night vision camera and bow and stern thruster controls. Comfort is assured for those long passages with twin leather upholstered Besenzoni electric helm chairs.

The large foredeck houses a 5.2m Smuggler tender and when the tender is launched a large sun bed converts the foredeck into a lounging area.

This Salthouse 68 will spend its first month after launching in New Zealand waters visiting some of the spectacular islands around the Hauraki Gulf and Bay of Islands, before heading to Perth, Western Australia, her new home port.

Salthouse 68 (2 x 1200hp): 8.5 kts, 800rpm, 2.4l/nm, range 3060nm*: 22kts, 2100rpm, 14.58l/nm, range 506nm*
