Scruffie Marine announce the first all Australian all electric boat – the Sienna 19

We’re pleased to report the first order for our new high tech GRP Sienna 19. While it will still be a few months gearing up to full production, after two years of intensive R & D not to mention blood sweat and tears we’re off and running. No finished boats yet but meanwhile here’s an artist’s impression and a photo of the first hull glowing away in the shed.

The Sienna 19 is Scruffie Marine’s first fully electric boat. Powered by a super efficient 5 HP Torqeedo, she carries up to ten passengers in quiet comfort. With batteries  below the floor, solar panels on the full-width roof and a whisper quiet back-up Honda powered generator, she has a range of triple, even quadruple that of any others. On batteries alone she will cruise for over twelve hours at 4.5 knots and with extra solar input you can add another two hours to that. Overnight charging, when necessary, will cost you a dollar with your trailerable Sienna safely parked under your carport. Top speed is 6.5 knots, courtesy of a beautifully balanced and easily driven hull and lightweight racing yacht construction technology. Advanced lithium ion phosphate batteries will also be available for even more performance.

Stability is excellent, boarding easy and there is a well appointed fitted head with washbasin, a compact galley with fridge, and a full sized timber dining table to seat eight. A big padded wrap around seat aft doubles as a bed for overnighting while modular seat units can be arranged to suit individual requirements. The helmsman’s position is well forward with all controls, instruments, anchor and generator within reach. A drop down windscreen plus full wrap around canvas screens fully enclose the boat for inclement weather. Ample storage is provided in various lockers and numerous foam filled watertight compartments are built in for complete safety and peace of mind.
