Sealegs Corporation (NZX:SLG) today announced it has appointed Paul Mitchell Investments as the first Canadian distributor for Sealegs amphibious boats in Ontario.
Mr Mitchell will trade under the name Amphibious Boats Ontario Canada Ltd and is currently in Auckland New Zealand visiting the Sealegs Head Office. In the last two days he has made an initial purchase of four Sealegs amphibious boats, representing over NZ$400,000 in revenue and has committed to purchasing at least a further six within 12 months.
Sealegs CEO David McKee Wright says “the appointment of Amphibious Boats Ontario Canada Ltd to our reseller network has come at a very good time. Sealegs has worked hard over the last year to scale its production capacity and to reduce lead times, both of which it has done successfully. Current capacity will enable Sealegs to pursue international sales in new markets such as Canada with confidence.”
Mr McKee Wright added, “Sealegs will be actively looking for more resellers in the coming months, particularly in Europe, as the company continues with its international expansion plan.”
Mr Mitchell, a successful entrepreneur who has been a boating enthusiast for over 30 years, said “I appreciate the great potential for Sealegs and see a major opportunity for the recreational boating market in Ontario and in particular on the Great Lakes.”
Mr Mitchell went on to say the Sealegs 6m and 7m rigid inflatables will be very well received and that he is looking forward to showcasing the amphibious boats at the Toronto International Boat Show 9th to 18th January 2009.
Sealegs has now appointed ten international distributors throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Canada as it continues to expand into new export markets, with 70% of annual production heading offshore.
