The Shadow Minister for Tourism and Regional Development; the Hon Bob Baldwin MP has confirmed he will speak at the Australian Superyacht and Marine Export Conference (ASMEX).
The Hon. Baldwin MP will speak at the ASMEX Conference on Wednesday, May 22 outlining the opposition’s strategy for marine export, manufacturing and tourism. With the election now on the horizon the ASMEX Conference delegates will be keen to hear of the opposition’s focus for the industry.
With the high Australian dollar, high cost of manufacturing, reduced global demand, increase of imported products and access to finance being difficult to obtain, it is imperative the Australian marine industry is informed of the opposition’s strategy.
AIMEX CEO MaryAnne Edwards commented “AIMEX and our members have had a relationship with Bob Baldwin for many years. He understands the marine sector and its importance to the nation’s prosperity”.
“I believe that Australia’s marine environment is one of our greatest assets. The marine sector makes a large and valuable contribution to the Australian economy, and I am keen to support marine operators in my capacity as Shadow Minister for Tourism and Regional Development. I look forward to the opportunity to meet members of the sector at the Australian Superyacht and Marine Export Conference,” the Hon. Baldwin MP said.
The Hon. Baldwin MP has significant industry experience, having served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Industry, Tourism and Resources within the Howard Government. The Hon. Baldwin MP’s passion for the marine industry began prior to entering politics, having owned and operated a successful adventure dive tourism and national equipment wholesale business. Earlier work in the Charter Fishing Industry allowed the Hon. Baldwin MP to become one of only two MP’s to have held a Master Mariner’s license and is therefore uniquely placed to understand the challenges and needs of the cruise sector.
ASMEX is the key Australian marine industry conference for those focused on export, the superyacht sector and those wanting to understand where the real opportunities lie for their business in the future. The ASMEX registration fee once again reflects the desire of AIMEX to ensure every business has the opportunity to attend. This is a conference run by industry for industry. At $395 (inc GST) for non-members and $285 for AIMEX & Superyacht Australia members this is unbelievable value. Registrations can be completed via the Superyacht Australia website www.superyacht-australia.com and the AIMEX website www.aimex.asn.au.
