Skin Cancer Survivor Launches Film Skin Deep

To mark the beginning of Skin Cancer Action Week, skin cancer survivor Monica Zanetti is launching her film “Skin Deep” on Wednesday 20^th November 2013 at The Enmore Theatre, Newtown.

At 23 years old Monica Zanetti was diagnosed with life threatening Melanoma cancer. Grateful for her survival, Monica now wants to inspire a nation of sun conscious Australians.

"This is the kind of cancer that counts on people being aware. Awareness is the best weapon. I don't want anyone to go through what I went through."  Says Monica.

According to the Cancer Council Australia, two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer before age 70. Around 2000 Australians die each year from skin cancer.

In an effort to raise awareness that the threat of skin cancer is real, Monica wrote and starred in the film "Skin Deep" when she was cleared of the cancer.

As part of National Skin Cancer Action Week next week (17-23 November), Skin Deep are having a fundraiser at The Enmore on the night of Wednesday the 20^th November, to raise funds for the final edit of the film and the Melanoma Institute Australia. 

The event is sponsored by The Star, The Sydney Swans, and the Tan Temple just to name a few. Proceeds from the charity auction go to the Melanoma Institute for research, and to Skin Deep to complete the final stages of the film.
