Soldiers Point Marina and the Real Futures Foundation arranged for the Marina Industries Association (MIA) to hold a Marina Attendants Course recently for students from Tomaree High School and St Philips Christian College who have an interest in working in the marina industry. The course was delivered by Phil McGowan one of Australia’s leading Certified Marina Managers from Birkenhead Point Marina who gave students a theoretical and practical knowledge of working on a marina.

The 16 students spent the day at SPM learning safety and emergency procedures, knot tying & splicing, and how to provide berthing and dock support.

With sponsorship of $50,000 over three years for the Tomaree Real Futures program, Soldiers Point Marina ensures that local students are gaining an employment advantage.

The Real Futures Foundation is a non profit organization and through various innovative programs helps to inspire and motivate students to either stay at school or choose a positive pathway that enables a successful transition to employment, further training or education
