Speedway Team Owner Opts for Big V8 Power on CruiseCraft boat

Ever since CruiseCraft announced the re-rating of the CruiseCraft Explorer 685 to legally carry a single outboard to 300hp, the orders have been gushing in.  Already many new boats have hit the water, some with the Yamaha F300 V8 outboard and others with the Verado 300.

These boats have been delivered by different CruiseCraft dealers including (Magnum Boating, Rising Sun Marine and Sugar City Marine) in WA and Queensland.

Shane Krikke is the General Manager of Bunbury Toyota.  He also owns and operates the largest sprint car team in Australia (5 times Australian Sprintcar Champions), but most importantly of all, Shane is a mad fisherman.  So for a man who loves his fishing and runs a team of racing cars it is no surprise that he would want the maximum amount of power on the transom of his CruiseCraft.

For a blue water angler in the West, running a large powerful boat way offshore makes good sense.   The Yamaha F300 can run efficiently all day long at mid throttle, but when it’s time to open up the engine and ease the throttle forward, Shane can be assured that the CruiseCraft Explorer 685 has the strength and engineering to handle the power and the sea conditions.

According to Peter Benston, the Sales and Marketing Manager at CruiseCraft, the acceptance of the re-rated Explorer 685 has exceeded all projections.

“While we thought that there was solid market demand for greater power on the Explorer’s transom, we didn’t think that it would take off so quickly,” Peter Benston said.  “It just goes to show that big horsepower is not the exclusive domain of skiers and performance boaters, fisho love to have plenty of grunt on the transom too.”

To achieve this power rating, CruiseCraft re-engineered the CruiseCraft Explorer 685 model lifting the power rating from 270 hp to 300hp.

As a direct result of the development program plan undertaken by CruiseCraft boats the vessel not only satisfies the stringent requirements for CE Certification, but also came through rigorous on water testing without flinching.

Now all CruiseCraft Explorer 685 boats manufactured from October 1^st 2009 will benefit from the re-engineering process as part of the standard build.   Moreover, there has been no cost increase for the upgrade.
