Stabicraft launches 2570 Supercab

Stabicraft Marine is unveiling its 2570 Supercab range in time for the southern hemisphere boat show season.

The new standard 360 litre fuel tank is an indicator of just how far this new Stabicraft boat can travel.  At 25.7 feet (7.85m) in length the 2570 Supercab has genuine blue water capability – which can be optioned into an overnight cruiser.

Stabicraft Marine’s Managing Director,Paul Adamssaid the 2570 marks a bold new look for Stabicraft – and reflects its new era of accessibility.

“We’ve put a lot of effort into our hulls in recent years, adding superb handling to their virtually unsinkable buoyancy – now we’ve got that nailed we’ve focused on adding the x-factor.”

Much of what is new about the 2570 is based less on marine engineering aspects and more closely on people and how they use the boats.

When Stabicraft launched the GIII Pontoon in 2008, it delivered a hull that tracked so true the marine experts called in to test it described it as ‘like cornering on rails’. It was a little surprising then when boat owner feedback described the best feature as a boarding ladder, Mr Adams said.

“This user feedback showed us that what was a pretty simple feature from our marine-engineering view-point was everything from a boat user,” Industrial Design ManagerJamie Wilsonsaid.

“Really, it has been an invitation for Stabicraft to step up, and really look at how people use our boats.”

Wilson, who joined the company in 2010, has a background in both marine design and voice of the customer research, making him perfect to spear-head their new direction.

On and off the water, the 2570 Supercab is visually striking. The large bow rails and bow platform provide more than just a visual point of difference to the boat; they also play a big part in the boats’ safety.  Launch and retrieval is safer with more room, more grab rails and easier access.

For the fisherman, the bow platform and large bow rails also provide another place to cast and work their prize catch, while the generous 200 litre fish bin has a gas strut lid.

With more boat buyers optioning increased fuel capacity, the new standard 360 litre fuel tank is class leading but for those wanting to go further again, fuel capacity can be upsized to 500 litres.

The 2570 Supercab comes in three standard variations.

First, the entry level 2570 Supercab which features a sports fisherman inspired open cabin to  maximise cockpit space and movement.

Next, the 2570 Supercab plus is built for the explorer. Its fully-enclosed cabin is designed half a metre longer to house a portside bench seat, starboard cupboard with bench top workspace; the twin sliding rear doors open onto the deck. This boat is aimed at people planning extended trips on the water.

Top of the line is the 2570 Supercab MWS (Matt Watson Signature), which represents the pinnacle of trailer-boat game fishing. Extreme fisherman Matt Watson had a lot of input during the design phase and just loves his one,

“I didn’t think the team at Stabicraft could improve the ride from my last Stabi, but they have; it eats up the ocean. Over decades of fishing from trailer boats I’ve come up with ideas and improvements to incorporate into a design and somehow Stabi have managed to include them all in this boat, and more importantly everything works just as I wanted it to”

Stabicraft Marine pioneered positive buoyancy boats, turning out the first rigid-hulled aluminium pontoon boat in 1987 from its home in Invercargill with the ‘roaring forties’ and Foveaux Straight as its back yard. Today, Stabicraft isNew Zealand’s largest trailer boat manufacturer and its boats are at work in waters world wide – relocating man-eating crocodiles, supporting big game fishers, even assisting the United Nations.  Stabicraft’s supportive and extensive 32 dealership network extends acrossAustralia,New Caledonia, North America andNew Zealand.

Stabicraft designs and manufactures boats to stringent Coastguard-approved standards to comply with the New Zealand CPC program that was voluntarily introduced by manufacturers in 1997.
