Superior Jetties supports Swim4Kids in more ways than one

Marine berthing specialist Superior Jetties is again supporting Brisbane’s annual Swim4Kids fundraising event, 21- 22 October.
Raising funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, Swim4Kids is a two-day tag team swimming event where participants swim inside a purpose-built cage, pulled behind by the Tangalooma Flyer ferry, across Moreton Bay to Tangalooma Island Resort – and back.

Superior Jetties managing director John Hogan said the cage that participants swam in each year was actually supported by a Hydrolift D20 Series boatlift.

“Moreton Bay is said to be home to one of the highest populations of bull sharks in the world, so ensuring the safety of participants in this popular charity event is paramount,” Mr Hogan said.

“Such is the versatility of Superior’s UMD system, on which the Hydrolift D Series is based, that we were able to create a robust ‘support housing’ for the swim cage, which has now been used in the Swim4Kids event for the past three years.

“This fully-transportable floating dock is so stable that it even allows onlookers to stand around the edge of the swim cage to encourage participants throughout their swim… so a few of us will be onboard to support Superior’s national sales manager Leon Sines who’s swimming in the event again this year.”

In its standard use, Superior’s Hydrolift D20 Series utilises ‘Drive on Pontoon’ technology for vessels up to 2000kg and less then 8m in length. Constructed from the UMD range, the Hydrolift D Series allows boats to be driven straight onto the lift to provide berthing out of the water.

The Hydrolift D Series features a valve-operated belly tank that can add extra lift for the rear of the vessel, if required, while a winch can also be installed to assist with exact positioning and reversing until the props engage with the water.

Cleats can be added to any edge of the Hydrolift D Series to create a convenient mooring readily available for safe berthing. The innovative marine berthing system can also be attached to piles to perform double duties as a boatlift and a pontoon – and the simple installation of extra modules can provide additional pontoon space.
