Sydney By Sail based at the Australian National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour is proud to announce that it has gained accreditation from the prestigious International Yacht Training Worldwide, to conduct sailing courses on Sydney Harbour. Being the exclusive provider of IYT courses for Sydney Harbour, Sydney By Sail offers a variety of recreational sail training from Introduction to Yachting all the way up to International Bareboat Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore.
IYT Worldwide was started in 2002 with the purpose of standardising yacht training across the globe. Now recognised around the world, IYT Worldwide operates more boating courses with more Government approvals through more schools, in more countries and in more languages than any other boating organisation in the world.
Sydney by Sail is one of the most experienced sail training companies in Australia, with owner Matt Hayes running sailing courses for over 25 years. The highly qualified instructors can take absolute beginners in the Introduction to Yachting course, then move on to the International Crew Certificate. The International Skipper Course enables sailors to learn how to take control of their own yacht within an area such as Sydney Harbour. The Yachtmaster coastal certificate is a five day/five night live aboard course which prepares students for coastal sailing and beyond.
Extra activities include Night Sailing and Sydney Harbour Bareboat Courses to enable budding yachties to experience sailing and navigating at night and preparing them to charter one of Sydney by Sail’s yachts during daylight hours. Sydney by Sail also offers a VHF radio operators certificate which is a must for those who own their own boat or charter regularly.
For anyone wishing to charter a yacht overseas, consider gaining the International Certificate of Competency – a qualification that is becoming more and more necessary around the world.
Sydney By Sail has Sydney’s newest fleet of charter yachts which are perfect for those learning to sail. Do one learn to sail course, or purchase a package.
