Marinas 2011, the International Conference and Exhibition for the marina industries will be broadening its focus. The most recent planning meeting of the Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA) resulted in a commitment to cater for a wider range of marina related businesses including marine workshops.

Marinas 2011 Committee Chairman Mike Harvey said marinas are business activity hubs for recreational boating. “Marinas 2011 will therefore broaden its focus and provide more benefits for boat service and repair businesses such as marine workshops. As well as conference breakout sessions there will be exhibitors catering for the needs of such businesses.  The introduction of conference breakout sessions will deliver more targeted benefits for delegates and support a broader range of exhibitors selling to the marina industries”.

MIAA Chairman Andrew Chapman said in line with the event theme of ‘new horizons’ it was important Marinas 2011 built on its international reputation as a premier world marinas conference and exhibition. “I am personally exciting that the event will build industry knowledge about some of the world’s best examples of boating events and activities being undertaken by marinas to stimulate boating activity”.

Another new development for Marinas 2011 will be the option of an ‘around Port Phillip Bay’ field trip visiting a diverse range of club and commercial marinas. Committee member Allan Cayzer from Melbourne has an intimate knowledge of the marina industries in Melbourne. Field trip participants will benefit from Allan’s insights provided through his careful crafting of the field trip itinerary.

Marinas 2011 is being held in at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre 20 – 22 June 2011. Held every two years the last event Marinas 2009 attracted over 400 participants with 18% coming from overseas.
