Summer in Sydney. There’s nothing quite like it and the sailing fraternity of Sydney Harbour and the surrounding waterways are gearing up for a massive summer with some truly exciting major events and activities.

Yachting members of the BIA Marine Brokers Association are leading the charge by offering their existing and future clients, plus those new to sailing, a range of brilliant opportunities that will make their summer one to remember.

Bob Mulkearns and the team from leading Bavaria Yacht Dealers North South Yachting, at the Quays Marina in Church Point, have just held a successful Bavaria regatta, the first in a series of on-water events they have planned for their owners. “Sailing really is a fantastic opportunity for a family to enjoy a mix of exciting activity, along with a relaxing and enjoyable time together. Our events are all about helping our current owners and prospective yachties with the opportunity to get together and experience the joys of sailing and the stunning waterways we have available for all of us to enjoy”, Bob commented.

At Vicsail, one of the longest standing yacht brokerages on Sydney Harbour, the great tradition continues. Now in its 15th year, the Beneteau Cup will be fought for from the starting line at the Cruising Yacht Club at Rushcutters Bay on the 18th of November. Forty-eight yachts battled for last years Cup and according to Micah Lane from Vicsail, this year is going to be an even bigger event with over fifty entrants competing for the honour. It’s just another great milestone for this long serving Boating Industry Association member.

In yachting, records are meant to be broken and the team at Vicsail are proving to be masters at it. In 2010 they achieved the status of the second highest selling retailer for Beneteau Yachts worldwide, and the number one worldwide dealer for their exclusive Lagoon range of yachts.

Experienced brokers Tim Vine and John C Cowpe head up the dynamic team from Yoti and Team Windcraft based at The Spit in Mosman. Established in 2008, Yoti has quickly developed a reputation for offering only the highest quality select pre-owned yachts, alongside their exceptional range of new yachts from leading manufacturers Hanse, Moody and Dehler marketed under their Team Windcraft Sydney banner. A perfect example of this is the fact that Yoti are the exclusive brokers for the 2010 Rolex Sydney To Hobart Overall Honours Champion, Secret Mens Business 3.5, confirming their reputation for offering the highest quality brokerage yachts. And after a hugely successful Sydney International Boat Show, where Team Windcraft presented 14 of their latest release models, they have gone on to sell fifteen yachts since the show.

Down at David Bray Yachts, there’s more exciting news for owners of multihull yachts. David and former World Hobie Masters Champion Rod Waterhouse have started a multihull sales division that will operate from their Pittwater office.  David has been selling yachts and servicing the needs of the yachting community since 1977, and with an excellent team of highly experienced brokers, the sales, service and advice for customers is going to be bigger and better than ever.

David and his team also have an extensive range of brokerage mono hull yachts available, and as a leading provider of Club Marine Insurance, the team from David Bray Yachts can assist with all of your marine insurance needs.

Put that together with the great success of the recent BIA Try Crewing Day and the upcoming Try Sailing Day, there’s no question that this wonderful sport is going to be enjoyed by more enthusiasts this summer.
